The Amina Profile, How to Change the World and The Wanted 18 are among the Canadian and Canadian copro docs that have made the latest longlist for Academy Awards Documentary Feature category.
A Gay Girl in Damascus: The Amina Profile is a fully Canadian production, directed by Sophie Deraspe and produced by Esperamos Films and the National Film Board. How to Change the World is a U.K.-Canada production, with Jerry Rothwell directing. Toronto’s Insight Productions, the U.K.’s Met Film Productions and Daniel Film are the prodcos attached to How to Change The World. The Wanted 18 is a Canada/Palestine/France copro directed by Amer Shomali and Paul Cowan, with Montreal’s Intuitive Pictures, the National Film Board, France’s Belotta Films and Palestine’s Dar Films Productions producing.
A total of 124 documentary films were included on the long list for the 88th Academy Awards, with a short list of 15 films to be released in December. The 2016 Academy Awards will be held on Feb. 28 in Hollywood.
