Multiplatform game Mech Mice is being turned into an animated action-comedy series, following a coproduction partnership between Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, New Zealand’s Oktobor Animation and California-headquartered Playmates Toys.
Targeting the six-to-11 demo, the CG-animated series will follow the adventures of Scratch Whitepaw and his ragtag team of heroic, hi-tech, mech-powered mice on its mission to defend the true rodent way of life. The TV series is expected to premiere in 2017.
Created by Oktobor Animation’s Dan Wang and Christopher Waters, Mech Mice is the brainchild of Canadian digital gaming studio Hyper Hippo’s founder Lance Priebe. Priebe, who also created Disney’s Club Penguin, will oversee development of web and mobile games based on the TV series.
Playmates Toys is the global master toy partner for the brand, and while no timeline has been announced yet for the toy range, it is expected to be infused with interactive elements in line with the property’s origins.
