The Hallmark series Good Witch, a Canadian certified production from Whizbang Films that is exec produced by Frank Siracusa, has made ratings history on its Canadian broadcaster W Network.

The first season of the series is now the highest-rated series for women aged 25-54 to air on W Network in the past decade. An episode on Sept. 17 drew an average audience of 472,000 (2+) viewers in Canada, which made it the most-watched scripted series across all English specialty networks in Canada for that day, according to Numeris data provided by Corus Entertainment.

Along with the ratings record, Corus also announced this week it would acquire the second season of the series. Good Witch, for which the season one finale aired on Thursday, will return in winter 2016 with 12 new episodes. A sneak speak of the first two hours of season two will air on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 9 p.m.

The show, set in the small town of Middleton, tells the story of Cassie Nightingale (played by Catherine Bell) and her daughter Grace, whose new neighbours – Dr. Sam Radford (James Denton) and his son – are more than a little spellbound by them.

The series is licensed to Hallmark in the U.S. and W Network in Canada. ITV handles international distribution for the series.
