Montreal-based VFX Studio Rodeo FX has won an Creative Arts Emmy award for its work on Game of Thrones, the second year in a row the shop has won an Emmy prize for their contributions to the HBO series.
Matthew Rouleau, VFX supervisor at Rodeo FX, was in Los Angeles on Saturday to receive the Outstanding Special Visual Effects award for the studio’s work on “The Dance of the Dragons,” the ninth episode of season five of Game of Thrones. Rouleau shared the award with others who were involved in creating the VFX for the series, including HBO VFX supervisor Joe Bauer and VFX producer Steve Kullback.
On Thursday, Sept. 10, it was also announced Toronto digital interactive agency Secret Location had won a Creative Arts Emmy in the User Experience and Visual Design category. Secret Location won the prize for its work on the Sleepy Hollow Virtual Reality Experience, which was produced by FOX in association with Secret Location.
