Stephane Gehami’s Mes Ennemis bound for MWFF

Gehami's feature will compete against 25 other international productions in the Montreal World Film Festival's World program.

montrealThe Montreal World Film Festival (MWFF) has announced the lineup for its World and First Feature competition programs, including a world premiere for Stéphane Géhami’s Mes Ennemis (My Enemies).

Géhami’s Canadian film will screen in the World competition, which include 26 features by filmmakers hailing from 31 different countries. Mes Ennemis, from Productions Film Plein Coeur, tells the story of 23-year-old Cedric, whose girlfriend breaks up with him on a train station platform. Crushed by the rejection, he finds himself in an old house owned by faded beauty Isabelle. The film stars Louise Marleau, Frédéric Lemay and Hubert Proulx.

Among the other entrants in the World competition are Tonino Zangardi’s Getaway of Love (Italy), Eric Weber’s Outliving Emily (U.S.), Pere Vilà Barcelo’s The Invisible Artery (Spain), Gassoh by Tatsuo Kobayashi (Japan) and Taboo by Khosro Masoumi (Iran), all of which will have their world bows at the Montreal festival.

In the First Feature competition will feature the world premieres of Wang Fan’s Beijing Carmen (China), Dear Deer from Takeo Kikuchi (Japan), Qi Wang’s Chuyi (The Funeral) (China), Megan Riakos’ Crushed (Australia), Marcos Guttmann’s Maresia (Brazil), Lukas Bossuyt’s Terug Naar Morgen (The Sum of Histories), Show Yanagisawa’s Lost and Found (Japan), Enrico Falcone and Piero Persello’s The Plastic Cardboard Sonata (Italy) and Darijan Pejovski’s Tri Dena vo Septemvri (Macedonia/Kosovo).

Neboke by Norihito Iki (Japan), Orage by Fabrice Camoin (France) and Fire Birds by Amir Wolf (Israel) will also make their world bows in the First Feature competition.  

This year’s festival will be the 39th edition of the Montreal festival, and runs from Aug. 27 to Sept. 7.
