Entertainment One has enlisted Nelvana as the exclusive Canadian licensing and brand agent for its hit preschool property Peppa Pig.
A global phenomenon, Peppa Pig airs weekdays on Treehouse in Canada at 4 p.m., and the brand is gearing up to take the North American licensing market by storm, with a wide-ranging consumer products program hitting mass retail fall 2016.
Licensees already on board include Jazwares (master toy partner), Revolution (bed, bath products), JCorp (children’s apparel sizes 2-6x), Black and White (footwear, belts), Calego (hard case luggage, backpacks, totes), Amscan (party goods), Candlewick Press (jacketed hard cover, trade paperback, novelty books), Imagine Publications (French language publishing, coloring, activity books), The Canadian Group (games, puzzles), Primary Colors (packaged fruit snacks, candy, cookies, crackers, assorted stationery products) and eOne will distribute Peppa DVDs.
The initiative will also include consumer products promotions, costume characters appearances managed by Daytime Enterprises, and more.
With more than 700 licensees worldwide, the global Peppa licensing program is on track to surpass the US$1 billion marker at retail this year.
Produced by London-based animation studio Astley Baker Davies, the series stars a cheeky, loveable little pig and follows her adventures with family and other animal friends. It currently airs in more than 180 territories and has been translated into over 40 languages.
