I will never armchair-quarterback another episode of The Amazing Race Canada ever again.
Val Maloney, special projects and associate editor with Media in Canada, and I were invited this week to participate in the 2015 edition of The Amazing Race Canada charity media challenge. The mock race was held on a muggy Tuesday morning, ahead of The Amazing Race Canada‘s season three premiere on CTV on Wednesday July 8 at 9 p.m. The event, created by real-life Amazing Race Canada producers Insight Productions, was way harder than I thought it would be.
Challenges the nine teams faced included singing in French, building a cardboard canoe and playing cottage games while trying to navigate Toronto (this city has a lot of parks). We were accompanied by a PA who made sure we were following all the rules, including not using smartphones (we could ask strangers to use theirs, but were not allowed to touch the actual device). We finished a less-than-stellar 7th out of 9 teams, but we both had a blast. I rediscovered that I am bad at French, but Val and I make a mean cardboard canoe.
