The premiere of Temple Street Productions’ sci-fi series Killjoys captured strong overnight ratings on Friday June 19 premiere on Space, pulling an average audience of 286,000 (2+).
Killjoys, which aired at 9 p.m., won the day for entertainment specialty programs. And when combined with ratings from its encore midnight airing on Space and its Saturday broadcast on CTV, the premiere pulled in a total audience of 694,000. (All data Numeris via Bell Media.)
The premiere of Killjoys preceeded Prodigy Pictures’ Dark Matter, which drew in an audience of 262,000. The preliminary overnight audience for Dark Matter‘s premiere on June 12 was 273,000. Both Dark Matter and Killjoys air on Syfy in the U.S.
It was a big weekend for primetime Canadian programming on Space, with season three of Orphan Black wrapping its run on Saturday to an average audience of 155,000 (2+) on overnights, not including additional broadcasts.
The season three premiere of Orphan Black brought in in 697,000 viewers on Space, CTV, Bravo and MTV, which made it the most-watched episode of the series to date based on final data. Overnight viewership for the season-three premiere across all four channels was 594,000. Last month, Bell Media announced it had greenlit a fourth season Orphan Black.
Killjoys is produced by Temple Street Productions in association with Bell Media and Syfy. Michelle Lovretta (Lost Girl) created the series and serves as showrunner.
