Ferne Downey has been re-elected to a fourth term as the national president for ACTRA, it was announced on Tuesday.
As national president, Downey represents 22,000 Canadian members of the organization.
“She continues to be a key player in ACTRA’s efforts to demand action for more homegrown television dramas and increased exposure for Canadian films,” said Stephen Waddell, ACTRA national executive director, in a statement released on Tuesday.
As well her work for ACTRA, Downey is also the president of the International Federation of Actors (FIA). In 2012 she became the first North American to hold the position when she replaced Agnete Haaland.
She is also the general VP of the Executive of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), as well as a member of the board of governors of the ACTRA Fraternal Benefit Society (AFBS).
