Shaftesbury, Banff AMP Accelerator finalists announced

Orphan Black writer/producer duo Hannah Cheesman and Mackenzie Donaldson are one of the three teams chosen to pitch their digital series project at Banff.

banff 2014Shaftesbury and its digital division Smokebomb Entertainment have announced the final three projects in their inaugural Audience Metrics Partnership (AMP) Accelerator.

The finalists are Orphan Black writer/producer duo Hannah Cheesman and Mackenzie Donaldson (Whatever, Linda, Orphan Black) for their project DID, Nikki Saltz and Sara Starkman for Slutty Book Club and Angelica Mendizabal for Lenny Falls In Love.

The winners will head off to next week’s Banff World Media Festival to pitch their digital series at the AMP live conference session.

Applicants to the competition, launched in early April, were tasked with creating an original digital series with branded entertainment potential. A requirement of the pitch was that it feature a female lead, and be targeted to a 16- to 24-year-old audience. Almost a hundred pitches were submitted in the three week application window, which were then whittled down to three.

All three of the finalists’ projects will move into development, but the winner of the competition will work with Shaftesbury/Smokebomb on developing their project and audience engagement strategy.

The AMP Accelerator live conference session takes place in the New Brunswick Room at the festival on Tuesday June 8 at 10 a.m. (MT)
