2015 Rosies winners announced

Nomadic Pictures and Clearwater Documentary each picked up a raft of prizes at the Alberta entertainment awards.

The Alberta Film and Television Awards were held on Saturday, with Nomadic Pictures and Clearwater Documentary each nabbing a handful of awards.

The awards, held at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, saw more than 50 “Rosies” being awarded for excellence in screen production.

Clearwater Documentary’s The Great Human Odyssey earned the Edmonton-based doc makers a duo of Rosies for Best Documentary Series and Best Cross-Platform or Transmedia Production. Clearwater also picked up the award for Best Corporate or Promotional Production for Making of a Film Score.

Nomadic Pictures also took home a trio of awards for Best Dramatic Series for Hell On Wheels, Best Dramatic Made-For-TV Movie or Mini-Series for Fargo, and Best Information or Lifestyle Series for Hollywood & Vines – “Michael Bublé.

Best Documentary Over 30 Minutes was won by The Culture High from Score G Production films, while Best Doc Under 30 Minutes was claimed by enriquePoe Moving Picture’s The Harder I Fight.

Elsewhere, Leven Creative won the Best Digital Production prize for A Winter Jingle, while Painkillers from Liberation Pictures won Best Dramatic Feature Film.

The four awards for Best Director were given to Brett Ferster (Drama Under 30 Minutes), Mark Anderson and Brad Warren (Drama Over 30 Minutes), Ron E. Scott (Drama Over 30 Minutes) and Francis Damberger  and Niobe Thompson who both won awards for Best Director of Non-Fiction Over 30 Minutes.

Also picking up Rosie awards for screenwriting were Charles Netto & Mark Hopkins for One Night in Aberdeen, Ron E. Scott for Blackstone – “Where There’s Smoke”, Neil Fleming for John Fennell Athlete Profile and Niobe Thompson for The Great Human Odyssey.
