Breakthrough Entertainment has named Chantal Jackson as head of development, alternative content.

Officially announced on May 1, Jackson has in reality held the position since March. She is based in Breakthrough’s Toronto office and is responsible for developing reality and non-fiction original series.

She is also responsible for forging new coproduction partnerships with indie productions in Canada and the U.S. She works closely with Beth Fraikorn, head of alternative content U.S., who is based in Breakthrough’s New York office.

Prior to taking on her new role, Jackson was working as a development consultant with Breakthrough on a freelance basis. Jackson has also worked as a freelance producer and consultant on a number of reality, factual and lifestyle series. Her previous credits include Buying and Selling with the Property Brothers, Amazing Race Canada and Say Yes to the Dress Canada.
