Mike Holmes, the Canadian contractor and star of several home improvement shows, is heading to Fox this summer with a home reno competition series.

Home Free, produced by Relativity Television and to be shopped globally by Electus International, challenges nine couples to revive one dilapidated home every week under the tough guidance of Holmes. The amateur renovators also have to live together in the house they are working on, and each week one couple will face elimination, while the couples with the best work will move forward.

The eight-episode series makes its Fox debut on July 22. Electus International has both tape and format rights for outside of the U.S.

“The series has all the ‘wow’ moments and DIY tips audiences have come to expect from a home makeover show, combined with the excitement and surprises of a competition series,” said John Pollak, president of Electus International, in a statement. “This show will have global resonance and we’re excited to bring it to audiences around the world.”

Holmes’ other television properties include Holmes on Homes, Holmes Inspection and Holmes Makes it Right.

Home Free is exec produced by Tom Forman, George Verschoor, Trice Bartow, Brad Bishop, Andrew Marcus and Mike Holmes.
