Canadian prodco White Pine Pictures and U.K. partner STV Productions are developing the limited series Wire Men, in association with British coproducer and distributor Power.
The Canada-U.K. coproduction, based in part on Charlotte Gray’s book Reluctant Genius: Alexander Graham Bell and the Passion for Invention, portrays early tech wars in the days of Bell and Thomas Edison.
Power is the series’ coproducer and international distributor, and will start shopping the drama to international broadcasters at MIPTV.
Executive producer credits on the project belong to Peter Raymont, Alan Clements, Sarah Brown and Susan Waddell.
White Pine Pictures’ previous credits include the crime dramas The Border and Cracked. Britain’s STV Productions is best known for the long-running police drama Taggart and detective series Rebus, based on Ian Rankin’s novels.
