Distribution 360, a marblemedia company, has picked up four new programs consisting of over 100 episodes to shop at MIPTV this week.
The productions picked up were Dockside Productions and CMT Canada’s Mississippi Snake Grabbers (12 x 30 minutes), Toronto-based RTR Media Inc.’s Open House Overhaul (14 x 30 minutes), Montreal-based ToonDraw Production’s Yaya and Zouk (75 x 5 minutes) and U.K.-based Archie Productions’ Red Arrows: Inside the Bubble (1 x 60 minutes).
The sales-focused company will be shopping around their new factual and kids programming offerings at the French trade show, which runs from April 13 to April 16, in an attempt to attract more content buyers globally.
“Our newly acquired titles add strength to the catalogue and offer us the opportunity to work with a broader list of content partners,” Diane Rankin, SVP of International Sales & Acquisitions at Distribution 360, told Playback Daily.
According to Rankin, the acquisition of the Red Arrows documentary adds European content to D360’s catalogue.
“As a BBC commission, it means we can exploit the U.K. secondary rights, which is great for the producer,” she said.
In the case of Open House Overhaul and Mississippi Snake Grabbers, Rankin cites worldwide demand for factual content as something that she believes will work in international markets based on those series’ appeal for both men and women. The pickup of Yaya and Zouk addresses the growing demand for animated preschool properties, Rankin said.
“Preschool, particularly animation, is a continuously growing market and Yaya and Zouk is a perfect show. The characters are really memorable and parent-friendly which is critical,” said Rankin.
