Corus Entertainment and Nickelodeon are extending their partnership with a new long-term deal that gives Corus exclusive rights to all Nick content across digital and linear platforms in Canada.
Under the new licensing deal, Corus is the sole distributor and rights holder of Nickelodeon’s content catalog in Canada, including current shows like Bubble Guppies (pictured) and library titles.
Corus can now distribute that content across linear channels, existing and emerging digital platforms like OTT and SVOD, electronic sell-through, games and apps.
The deal is the latest in the longstanding relationship between the kids media giants. Nick content has been available on Corus-owned kidnets YTV and Treehouse since 2005, when Corus inked its first output deal with the U.S. giant. In 2009, Corus launched Nickelodeon Canada as a standalone channel dedicated to the Nickelodeon brand and its properties.
Nickelodeon’s catalouge includes SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and iCarly, as well as preschool-focused Nick Jr. series like Dora and Friends, Team Umizoomi and Bubble Guppies.
The deal comes one day after Doug Murphy assumed his new role as president and CEO of Corus Entertainment, succeeding John Cassaday.
