National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) has picked up the Paperny Entertainment series Cold Water Gold through Passion Distribution, as well as two specials, all set to air in April.
The 10 x 60-minute Cold Water Gold (airing on Discovery Canada as Cold Water Cowboys) follows Newfoundland fishermen as they navigate harsh conditions in what’s known as “Iceberg Alley.”
Specials acquired by NGCI include Rebuilding Noah’s Ark (also known as The Real Noah’s Ark, 1 x 120 minutes), from London’s Blink Films and Toronto-based Yap Films, in which a team of experts uses a recently discovered Babylonian tablet to construct an ark like that featured in the Biblical tale of Noah and the flood.
Also, NGCI will air Mankind from Space (1 x 120 minutes), coproduced by U.K. prodco Darlow Smithson Productions and Montreal-based Handel Productions, which examines how the complexities of how our world has transformed using satellite date and CGI.
