Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises has joined forces with actress Julie Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton to develop a new animated TV show, based on the mother-daughter duo’s book series The Very Fairy Princess.
Slated to air next year, the girl-targeted preschool show will be jointly developed with Andrews and Walton Hamilton and produced at Nelvana Studio in Toronto.
A New York Times bestselling series, The Very Fairy Princess franchise is part of The Julie Andrews Collection and is published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
The book series and animated show will tell the story of Geraldine, who believes she is a fairy princess despite evidence to the contrary. Illustrated by Christine Davenier, the series includes eight titles with a ninth book, The Very Fairy Princess: A Spooky, Sparkly Halloween, set to roll out later this year.
