Toronto-based Breakthrough Entertainment has appointed Craig McGillivray as VP of distribution.

McGillivray will be based out of Breakthrough’s Toronto office and will handle international sales and programming acquisitions for the distributor and producer.

He mostly recently held the position of VP distribution at Peacock Alley Entertainment. Previously McGillivray also worked with DHX Media as territory manager, handling program sales for Asia, Australia, Latin America and Canada. Before that, he served with Breakthrough as a sales executive and handled sales to Eastern and Central Europe, Asia, Australia, Latin America and Canada. He started his TV distribution and programming career at Ironstar Communications, a TV programming sales and distribution company founded by his father Derek McGillivray.

McGillivray’s return to Breakthrough follows a busy December for the company, during which it secured over 100 hours in sales of its kids catalog to broadcasters in Asia.
