Justin Cutler is leaving the Toronto International Film Festival as the director of the industry office at the end of February.
“After ten years at TIFF, I’ve decided to chart a new path in the film industry. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at TIFF, but I’m excited about embarking on a new adventure,” Cutler told Playback Daily via a statement from TIFF, which confirmed his departure at the end of February.
Cutler signaled his resignation to the festival in late 2014, and TIFF is now formally seeking his replacement.
He oversaw industry sales, service and programming at TIFF, and grew the number of industry delegates to over 5,000 people.
Cutler also launched the Industry Conference, and extended festival industry activity well beyond the annual September event.
That included creating an Industry Conference at TIFF Kids, and two days of industry programming around Canada’s Top Ten initiative.
