Proper’s Brett & Cliff Go To Hell greenlight for History

Shaw Media’s History specialty channel has greenlit six, one-hour episodes of Proper Television‘s latest reality series, Brett & Cliff Go To Hell.

Brett & Cliff Go To Hell was ordered to season after the pilot aired on History in December. The series follows a pair of adventurers named Brett Rogers and Cliff Quinn as they re-create and live through historical worst-case scenarios.

Production on series started last week on Roatan Island, Honduras. For the episode set on the island, Rogers and Quinn will be on the run from pirates in the jungle for seven days wearing clothing and using tools from 1723.

All six episodes of the series will be shot over six months, with filming of each “exhibition” to last seven days. Other locations Rogers and Quinn will visit as part of the series include Arizona, Louisiana, Manitoba and Newfoundland.

Toronto-based Proper Television will also be producing additional video content linked to Brett & Cliff Go To Hell that will appear on History.ca. The digital content will include video diaries, extended scenes and survival how-tos. The digital content will also include in-depth looks at the period clothing and tools used on each of the expeditions shown on the series.

Brett & Cliff Go To Hell has the capacity to draw a large co-viewing audience, said executive producer Allison Grace, noting that the series would appeal to both fans of history and survival genre programming.

“We absolutely see this as a multiple season show,” Grace told Playback Daily. “When Brett [Rogers] originated this idea, he came to the table with upwards of 30 episode ideas. The show is about history’s worst cast scenarios, which offers a rich landscape of stories to choose from.”

A broadcast date for Brett & Cliff Go To Hell has not yet been set. The series is executive produced by Grace and Proper Television’s Guy O’Sullivan.
