Elevation Pictures to release Bleecker Street titles in Canada

Elevation Pictures has inked a multi-year distribution deal to release film  titles from U.S. indie distributor Bleecker Street in Canada.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the agreement will see Elevation handle all marketing, sales and distribution services for Bleecker Street’s limited and wide releases.

Bleecker Street was launched at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival by former Focus co-CEO Andrew Karpen, and is so far looking to existing distributors in international territories to get its product into the world market, rather than setting up a foreign distribution arm.

The deal will start with two titles, the Al Pacino and Christopher Plummer-starrer Danny Collins, set for a March 20, 2015 release in Canada and the U.S. markets, and Pawn Sacrifice, Edwick Zwick’s chess match drama picked up by Bleecker Street at TIFF.

The deal was negotiated by Bleecker Street CEO Andrew Karpen with Avy Eschenasy, and co-presidents Laurie May and Noah Segal on behalf of Elevation Pictures.

Elevation Pictures, launched in 2013, has backing from U.S. film financer Teddy Schwarzman of Black Bear Pictures.
