Big Coat takes Canadian format rights to The Extra Mile

Indie producer Big Coat Productions has secured the Canadian format rights to the Israeli reality competition show The Extra Mile from Studio Glam.

The series, which originated on Channel 10 in Israel, forces 10 divorced and bickering couples to work through mental and physical challenges for a cash prize.

The twist is the winning ex-couple will never get the cash. Instead, it goes into a trust fund for their children.

Other series from Big Coat Productions, which is run by executive producers Catherine Fogarty and Maria Armstrong, include Love It or List It, now in its sixth season, and Love It or List It Vancouver.

Big Coat is the latest Canadian producer to look to Israel for new reality formats after Fadoo Productions inked a deal with Keshet Canada to develop and produce Keshet’s format Marathon for the Canadian market.

Recently, Big Coat also launched a public pitch competition called “What’s the Big Ideal?” to develop concepts for a new unscripted series.
