Picture Box Distribution has inked a deal with digital educational distributor OverDrive which will see Ohio-based company distribute Picture Box’s catalogue of programming to libraries around the world.

OverDrive distributes digital content to over 33,000 libraries and schools worldwide, including eBooks, audiobooks, videos and music.

“We represent a lot of genres that are of great interest to libraries, and OverDrive has excellent penetration in that world. Additionally, we wanted to partner with someone who had the technical know-how and reputation in educational VOD,” Kate Sanagan, partner and director of sales at Picture Box Distribution, told Playback Daily.

The first Picture Box titles to be made available through the partnership will be Kara Film’s Guardians (6 x 30 minutes) and Chef Michael’s Kitchen (26 x 30 minutes). Both titles will be available in early 2015, with Chef Michael’s Kitchen to be paired with Smith’s e-cookbooks. Additional Picture Box titles will be made available later in 2015.
