Bell Media’s Space channel had a record-breaking month in December 2014, earning an average audience of 101,000 total viewers and making it the most-watched month in the channel’s history.
Space has maintained its momentum into the new year, Bell Media noted in a release, becoming the number-one-ranked entertainment specialty channel for the 25-to-54 and 18-to-49 demos in the month to date. (All data Numeris via Bell Media.)
The network pointed to the latest Dr. Who Christmas special Last Christmas as one of the major ratings contributors for the month of December after it drew an average audience of 792,000.
Other Space shows that brought in significant audiences for the channel in December included a broadcast of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on Dec. 27 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which earned average audiences of 510,000 and 746,000 respectively.
The U.S. series The Librarians also hit a series-high record on Dec. 28, pulling in 675,000 viewers. The Hunger Games, which aired on Dec. 29, also brought in an average audience of 526,000 viewers.
