Whites set to rev up engines for 2015 February Freeze

Digital technology that turns cars into rolling-camera shooting rigs may make next month’s February Freeze look like a lot like the Detroit Auto Show.

Among the new gadgets and gizmos to be unveiled at William F. White International’s annual pre-NAB technology showcase is its latest custom-fabricated Camera Car with custom crane bases and roof, front and rear camera platforms for dramatic action sequences.

This year’s Freeze is also expected to be major staging ground for movie, broadcast and live entertainment suppliers expecting a bumper year for Hollywood production locally.

“February Freeze has become a key destination for the world’s top industry manufacturers to showcase their newest screen-based technologies and advancements,” said Whites chairman and CEO Paul Bronfman.

Deluxe and Clairmont Camera will attend the Freeze for the first time, and Fiilex, a new lighting supplier based in California, is coming north to unveil new modular LED lighting technology that directors of photography can switch from tungsten to daylight.

The Freeze will feature other breakthroughs in LED lighting technology from Kino Flo, Fiilex, BriteShot, Mole-Richardson and Arri, according to Whites director of marketing Lowell Schrieder.

The 14th annual February Freeze is set to take place on Feb. 3, 2015 at the William F. White Centre complex in Toronto.
