SIM Group acquires Pixel Underground

The SIM Group has acquired Toronto post-production house Pixel Underground, the company announced Tuesday.

With the deal, the Toronto-based SIM Group also acquired Pixel Underground’s associated companies, FINI Films and stationEX, which specialize in media distribution and fulfillment services. Recently, Pixel Underground has completed post-production work on projects including Mayday, Nowhere to Hide, Motives & Murders: Cracking the Case, American Pickers and Food Truck Face Off.

The acquisition aims to expand the SIM Group’s ability to provide complete media distribution and postproduction work for the Toronto market. The terms of the acquisition deal for Pixel Underground were not disclosed.

This deal marks the latest chapter in a rapid expansion for the SIM Group. Earlier this year, the SIM Group acquired Hollywood post facility Chainsaw in an effort to expand its U.S. footprint. Last year, the company also acquired PS Production Services, which has locations in Toronto, Vancouver and Atlantic Canada. In addition to PS Production Services, Chainsaw and now Pixel Underground, the SIM Group’s operating units include SIM Digital and Bling Digital.
