Jian Ghomeshi has agreed to withdraw a $55 million lawsuit against the CBC that was brought in the wake of his highly-publicized dismissal in October.
A CBC spokesman told Playback Daily on Tuesday that the civil suit, filed on Oct. 27 by Dentons Canada LLP, had been pulled, pending a court order, and that Ghomeshi will pay the CBC $18,000 in legal costs.
The controversy over Ghomeshi’s high-profile dismissal isn’t over.
The former unionized CBC employee will have his case brought up as an internal grievance at the pubcaster.
The CBC in October followed up Ghomeshi’s lawsuit with its own notice of motion to dismiss the legal action.
Ghomeshi’s original claim alleged breach of confidence and bad faith by the pubcaster.
The former Q radio show host was fired by the CBC on Oct. 26 over sexual assault allegations.
