Cameras roll in Sudbury on Chet Baker biopic

Production has started in Sudbury on Born to be Blue, a Chet Baker biopic from writer/director Robert Budreau with Ethan Hawke starring in the lead role.

The majority of the film’s production will occur in Sudbury. Carmen Ejogo (The Purge: Anarchy), and Callum Keith Rennie (The Killing, The Firm) will star in Born to be Blue along with Hawke.

Jennifer Jonas and Lenonard Farlinger of Toronto’s New Real Films are producers on the project, along with Budreau through his Lumanity Productions shingle. Jack Seal of Black Hangar Studios also serves as a producer on the film.

Executive producers are Andrew Chang-sang, William Santor and John Hills of Oakville, ON-based Productivity Media, Stefan Jacobs, Adam Moryto and Gurpreet Chandhoke.

Entertainment One will distribute the film in Canada. K5 International is handing Born to be Blue‘s international rights, and will launch sales of the film at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, set to kick off on Nov. 5.
