Trixter Film is the latest foreign visual effects and animation studio to set up in Canada.

The German VFX company is opening a studio in Toronto, with Michael Gianfriddo named CFO and Ken Mandeville becoming chief executive of business development and COO.

The Canadian facility, Trixter Inc., will offer animation and VFX services, while also developing, producing and coproducing original content with international producer partners.

Trixter already has studios in Munich, Berlin and Los Angeles.

Sony Pictures Imageworks, Digitial Domain, Industrial Light & Magic, Framestore, Cinesite and other VFX and animation shops earlier set up in Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal in search of local tax credits and subsidies.

Trixter’s credits include Iron Man 3, Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Solider, The Avengers and the sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron.
