Gallery: VIFF’s BC Spotlight Awards Gala

Andrew Huculiak’s debut feature Violent was the big winner at the Vancouver International Film Festival’s BC Spotlight Gala on Oct. 4, where the festival gave out its major prizes for Canadian film. Violent picked up the trophies for Best Canadian Film and Best BC Film. Other winners included Ana Valine, who won up the BC Emerging Filmmaker Award for her film Sitting on the Edge of Marlene, and Geneviève Dulude-Decelles, who was awarded the Most Promising Director of a Canadian Short Film trophy for her short film The Cut. The new VIFF Impact Award went to  Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story, a documentary from writer/director Grant Baldwin.
