Soda Pictures, newly merged with Thunderbird Films, has acquired Michael Winterbottom’s The Face of an Angel for the U.K./Ireland and Canada.
The acquisition marks Soda’s second Toronto film festival acquisition after earlier picking up the Canadian rights to Lone Scherfig’s The Riot Club.
The deal was negotiated by Eve Gabereau of Soda Pictures and Eve Schoukroun and Fabien Westerhoff of WestEnd Films.
The Daniel Brühl, Kate Beckinsale and Cara Delevingne-starrer The Face of an Angel is inspired by the 2007 Amanda Knox trial in Italy involving the murder of British student Meredith Kercher.
