YTV is introducing a new reality series based on the emerging pop band 4Count, managed by pop star Nick Cannon.
Their new show, Mission: 4Count is produced by Tricon Films & Television. The series (8 x 30-minutes) follows 4Count members Aaron Scott, Ben Robinson and brothers Adam and Kieran Ackerman, who left their home-base in California to perfect their musical skills in Canada.
The premise of the show involves Cannon sending the boys out on ‘music missions,’ giving them a music industry boot camp of rehearsals, recording sessions and live performances.
Tricon joined the project following a meeting with YTV, Cannon and the members of the band at a meeting in New York last year, said Marc Kell Whitehead, general manager of production with Tricon. YTV was looking for a production partner to work with Cannon’s label, Ncredible Entertainment, to develop a series focusing on 4Count.
“We’ve built a solid platform in the docu/reality space for kids through our 7 seasons of The Next Star and it’s spin-off seriesThe Next Star: SuperGroup. After meeting Nick and 4Count we were excited that we could use our skills and partnerships in both television and music to create a fun series for YTV’s audience,” Whitehead told Playback Daily.
The series is currently starting production in Toronto, and is slated to air this October. In anticipation of the series launch, 4Count will be featured in the YTV Summer Beach Bash special, airing on YTV on August 23.
4Count was signed by Sony Music Entertainment Canada this past spring.
