eOne to develop, produce Gillian Flynn’s Sharp Objects

Entertainment One Television will develop and produce Sharp Objects, a one-hour serialized TV series based on a book by the same name from Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn, the company announced Tuesday.

Sharp Objects, published in 2006, follows the story of reporter Camille Preaker, who returns to her hometown to cover the murder of two preteen girls.

This is the third Flynn book to receive screen treatment; her most recent novel, the best-selling Gone Girl, is being produced as a feature film by Twentieth Century Fox, and stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. Dark Places, starring Charlize Theron, recently wrapped production and is also based on a Flynn novel.

Flynn will serve as executive producer on the series, along with Blumehouse Production’s Jason Blum and Charles Layton. Blumhouse Productions will produce the series. Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Glee, Mad Men, I Am Number Four) will showrun Sharp Objects and is the writer on the project.

John Morayniss, CEO of eOne Television and Michael Rosenberg, eOne’s EVP US scripted television, will oversee the production and development of Sharp Objects. eOne will handle the global distribution of the series.
