Rogers Media has greenlit a second season of Storage Wars Canada, the first season of which was the highest-rated show on OLN.
“The show has resonated with Canadian audiences on OLN and City who appreciate our larger than life Canadian characters, and the format continues to succeed not only here in Canada, but internationally, selling into 140 territories globally,” Natalie Rodrigues, director of original programming with Rogers Media, told Playback Daily.
The first season of the show has yet to complete its run on OLN, but production on season two started about two weeks ago, said Allison Grace, executive producer on Storage Wars Canada. The second season order is for 36 half-hour episodes, the same amount as the first season.
“We’re hugely grateful that they would do an order for another 36 episodes – it’s so unheard of to get an order like that,” Grace told Playback Daily.
Storage Wars Canada follows the exploits of people who bid on a contents of abandoned storage containers in auctions. The second season of the series is currently slated to premier next winter.
The series is produced by Proper Television, and is based on a format created by Original Productions, a FremantleMedia company.
In addition to Grace, Guy O’Sullivan also serves as executive producer on Storage Wars Canada. Geoff Siskin is series producer. FremantleMedia International handles the worldwide distribution of Storage Wars Canada.
