Search Engine Films gets minority investor

John Bain’s Search Engine Films has received a mid-seven figure cash injection by Tim Nye’s Abbolita Films.

The minority stake investment comes as Bain attends the film market in Cannes after the former Maple Pictures and Lionsgate Films exec launched the distribution outfit last year.

Search Engine is currently releasing God’s Not Dead, which grossed over $56 million at the U.S. and Canadian box office.

Nye, founder and chairman of Abbolita Films, has recently film release credits like Life After Beth and Life of Crime, which debuted at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
