Entertainment One on Thursday said David Reckziegel is departing to launch a media finance venture, effective May 31, 2014.

Reckziegel oversees eOne’s North American film business, including Canadian and U.S. film distribution.

Seville Films, the film distribution outfit he launched in 1999 with John Hamilton, was acquired by eOne in 2007.

He had a film financing background before launching Seville Films, having completed executive stints at BMO Nesbitt Burns in Montreal and New York and with Omni Capital, a firm specializing in structured investments for the film and TV business.

“I am extremely proud to have been part of eOne’s dramatic growth since 2007 and of what my teams and I have accomplished together, but I know in my gut that it’s the right time for me to conquer new challenges in my career.  I leave the company in the very capable hands of our current business leaders,” said Reckziegel in a statement Thursday morning.
