Fonda Snyder has been appointed to the newly created role of VP creative development and sales of Rainmaker Entertainment effective May 1, the Vancouver-based animation studio has announced.
In this position, Snyder will oversee the company’s creative development projects, coproductions, acquisitions and production service opportunities.
Prior to joining Rainmaker, Snyder was a creative consultant at Technicolor and also led her own management company Alchemy Ink, which represented authors and illustrators looking to sell their work to publishers, networks and film studios. She has also served as the VP original movies for Disney Channel, and SVP of creative development and U.S. sales at Cookie Jar Entertainment.
Snyder’s unique combination of experience in television and film made her particularly well suited for Rainmaker Entertainment, said president and executive producer Michael Hefferon. Rainmaker launched a television production division under the Mainframe banner late last year, and Snyder’s background can help the company connect with major players in the two mediums, Hefferon said.
“Her relationships stretch into studios, and also stretch into broadcasters and producers on the TV side,” Hefferon told Playback Daily.
Snyder has also developed more than 25 projects for television and film networks over her career, including a feature length adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic book House of Secrets. While at Disney Channel, she also supervised the development of the Wendy Wu and Cheetah Girls film franchises.
With Cookie Jar Entertainment, Snyder oversaw the development and sale of more than 50 properties, including Busytown Mysteries.
“Fonda has a tremendous track record in development, and also taking that development to market,” Hefferon said. “She really expands our ability to manage our development slate of intellectual properties we are looking to do, both on the TV and the feature film side.”
Snyder, who is Canadian, will be based out of Los Angeles, where she currently lives.
