Canadian indie distributor Phase 4 Films has acquired the Canadian rights to The Two Faces of January in a deal with StudioCanal after the film launched in Berlin.
The movie, based on the Patricia Highsmith mystery novel, marks the directorial debut for veteran screenwriter Hossein Amini (Drive, Snow White and the Huntsman, 47 Ronin), and stars Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen and Oscar Isaac.
The film follows a con artist who accidentally kills a private detective that had tracked him down from the U.S. to Athens.
Phase 4 plans a fall 2014 release of the picture, which is produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Robyn Slovo and Tom Sternberg.
