TVO hires former teacher as digital education guru

In line with its new focus on kids schooling, TVO has hired former school teacher and principal Karen Grose as VP digital education, charged with creating content for students, teachers and parents.

Grose comes to the public educational broadcaster from the Toronto District School Board, where she was coordinating superintendent of strategy and program planning.

“Karen knows how to use technology to help kids learn as a former senior superintendent, principal and teacher who will complete her PhD in Digital Learning at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education this spring,” said TVO CEO Lisa de Wilde in a statement Tuesday.

Grose said TVO would look to help teachers boost their students’ performance with new digital technologies and content.

“I believe that the use of technology is successful when it is effectively used as a tool to support sound pedagogical practices, and the tools used are connected to authentic teaching and learning,” said Grose in her own statement.

“TVO is uniquely placed to be the delivery and innovation partner for Ontario educators, students and parents, inside and outside the classroom,” she added.
