Toronto-based Blue Ice Pictures has optioned the film rights to Crazy Town: The Rob Ford Story, by Toronto Star reporter Robyn Doolittle.
Blue Ice Pictures producers Daniel Iron and Lance Samuels plan to adapt the book as a film or TV project.
The Penguin Canada book follows the rise and fall of Toronto mayor Rob Ford, who has become a global media sensation.
Doolittle made a name by becoming one of three journalists to view the infamous video that purports to show Ford inhaling from a glass pipe.
The mayor later admitted to smoking crack cocaine.
“Robyn Doolittle’s book is a testament to dogged, fearless and exemplary journalism. We are excited to be working with Ms. Doolittle to bring this story to the screen,” Daniel Iron said in a statement Monday.
