The National Film Board of Canada has named Shirley Vercruysse as its executive producer for the Vancouver-based Pacific and Yukon Centre.
Vercruysse, who will start Feb. 10, has worked in independent production for 14 years.
Previously, she served as a partner in Burns Films, where she produced Gary Burns’ waydowntown and NFB coproduction Radiant City.
“Shirley Vercruysse joins the NFB at a time when we are engaged in reinventing how we work and create, as part of a bold new strategic plan that calls for the NFB to connect more profoundly with Canadians and their communities, to create works of social impact that help to put Canada at the forefront of global media innovation,” said Ravida Din, director general of the NFB’s English program, in a statement.
