marblemedia’s Distribution360 arm has added three new lifestyle and factual programming titles to its slate. The company picked up two titles produced by Newfoundland-based Best Boy Entertainment: 39 x 30-minute episodes of the family docu-drama Save My Pet, and eight half-hour episodes of the travel and adventure series The Skinny Dip. Also new to the Toronto-based company is At The End of My Leash (78 x 30-minute) produced by Purple Dog Media and White Iron Pictures.
Raven Banner picks up worldwide rights to June
Raven Banner Entertainment has purchased the worldwide sales rights for the supernatural thriller June, and will start to sell the film at The European Film Market in Berlin. June follows the story of a 9-year-old orphan girl who shares her body with an ancient supernatural being named Aer. Kennedy Brice (The Walking Dead) is set to star. Shooting is scheduled to start in the early spring.
L. Gustavo Cooper is directing the film, which is based on a script from Sharon Y. Cobb and Cooper. Gregor Habsburg and Duane A. Sikes are producing, along with Raven Banner partners Michael Paszt and Andrew Hunt.
Nelvana and Cartoon Network Latin America
This week, Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana division announced it completed deals for 78 half-hours of programming with Cartoon Network Latin America. The net bought new seasons of Mr. Young, Sidekick, Scaredy Squirrel, and Detentionaire.
DHX Media signs three licensing deals in Latin America
More news on the Latin American kids biz: DHX Media, the Halifax-based producer, distributor and now broadcaster specializing in children’s entertainment has licensed over 350 30-minute episodes of shows including Johnny Test and Caillou to Brazilian SVOD service YouYn, and the same amount again of Sabrina’s Secret Life, Dennis the Menace, Inspector Gadget and Paddington Bear.
Finally, season one of Super WHY! has been licensed into eight Latin American countries. The producer will also head to NATPE in Miami with three new series on the table: Dr. Dimensionpants, Hank Zipzer and Topsy and Tim.
Tricon Films & Television
Tricon Films & Television announced its largest-ever NATPE slate to date with scripted comedy, factual, and children’s series. Packed into its suitcase for Miami will be special previews for its 6 x 30-minute dramedy Sensitive Skin, starring Kim Cattrall and Don McKellar, and the 10 x 60-minute crime drama The Divide. Its comedy offerings include the buzzed about 6 x 30-minute comedy miniseries The Spoils of Babylon, 10 x 30-minute The Birthday Boys, and 30 x 30 minute Comedy Bang! Bang!, and in factual, the 8 x 30-minute Hit Record on TV!, the 8 x 60-mintue To Catch A Killer and the 14 x 30-minute Extreme Collectors. On the kid’s side, Tricon is bringing The Next Star: Super Group, Jiggi Jump and Wildernuts to the Miami market
