Stories We Tell nominated for DGA doc prize

Sarah Polley’s Stories We Tell continues its hot streak this month with a nomination for the Directors Guild of America’s (DGA) documentary award.

The film will go up against The Crash Reel, The Square, Cutie and the Boxer and The Act of KillingThe winner will be announced at the 66th annual DGA Awards ceremony, which is hosted by Jane Lynch and takes place on Jan. 25 in LA.

The nomination is Sarah Polley’s first from the DGA. Stories We Tell is produced by the NFB and is distributed by Mongrel Media in Canada and Roadside Attractions in the U.S.

“The five documentary filmmakers nominated today have made powerful films exploring humanity in all its complications,” said DGA president Paris Barclay in a statement. “From intricate family portrayals to lives caught in political upheaval, these works are intimate, heartbreaking and triumphant. My congratulations to each of the nominees.”
