It’s full stream ahead for Netflix and Murdoch Mysteries

Netflix is adding CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries to its library as part of an expanded agreement with the pubcaster announced Wednesday.

Seasons 5 and 6 of the period drama are now available for viewing on Netflix. The deal also includes season 7, which is currently on air and will be added in May for Canadian subscribers. In 2011 Murdoch Mysteries moved to CBC from Rogers-owned City.

The extended licensing agreement also affects CBC’s prime-time shows that are currently available on Netflix, including Republic of Doyle (seasons 1-5), Heartland (1-7) , Cracked (1-2), Dragons’ Den (6-8), Being Erica (1-4) and Mr. D (1-2).

“These shows represent some of Canada’s best homegrown television,” said Sean Carey, Vice President, Content Acquisition at Netflix, in a release. Working with CBC is part of the U.S.-based digital network’s commitment to add more Canadian content for its subscribers, he adds.

The seasons listed above that aren’t already available on Netflix will be rolled out starting this month and through 2014. The latest season of Doyle will be added in March, while additional seasons of Dragons’ Den will appear in March and May.
