The CBC and the Canadian Media Guild have signed a tentative five-year deal that includes a 1.5 % salary increase in each of the first two years.

The new collective agreement, effective April 1, 2014, calls for wage levels in the last three years to be negotiated at a later date.

The latest deal, expiring March 31, 2019, also has increases to the temporary upgrade rate, taxi rates, shift differential minimums and a northern language premium.

Canadian Media Guild members will vote whether to ratify the new collective agreement in January.

The union recommends ratification.
