Netflix has expanded its licensing agreement with the National Film Board, adding more than 20 new Canadian documentaries and renewing the NFB titles already available through the service in Canada.
New NFB titles available through Netflix include Helicopter Canada, Life with Murder and The Boxing Girls of Kabul (pictured). The deal also includes films in English, French, Thai and Farsi.
“This deal represents the rich variety of perspectives in Canadian filmmaking and we know our members will enjoy watching them whenever and wherever they want,” said Netflix VP content Sean Carey in a statement.
“This latest agreement with Netflix underscores the appeal of great documentary storytelling to audiences everywhere,” said James Roberts, NFB assistant director general of accessibility and digital enterprises in his own statement.
Some of the new titles are available for streaming effective immediately, while more new additions will launch in early 2014.
