The upcoming Buffer Festival aims to showcase YouTube content and creators to consumers and industry members when the inaugural festival launches on Nov. 8 to 10.
And with an eye to supporting emerging creators, Buffer Festival and the TIFF Next Wave committee have chosen five next-gen YouTube creators to be recognized during the festival.
The up-and-coming YouTube stars were selected from five genres. The winners are as follows: Matthew Watts (“I am Canadian” – Canadian Eh?), Ryan O’Connor (“Therapy” – Short Films), Alex Dainis (“Brainfreeze!” – Science & Education), Danny La Shep (“Breach” – Action + VFX) and Alison Zhao (“Nobody Asked You” – Women of YouTube) to attend Buffer Festival as special guests and play their videos within their show categories.
As part of the selection process, the five categories were divvied up amongst groups of TIFF Next Wave Committee members, who decided on the emerging stars, all of whom must have between 5,000 and 50,000 subscribers and show creativity and quality in their videos.
The TIFF Next Wave Committee is an advisory committee made up of youth ages 15 to 18 years old.
Buffer Festival takes place Nov. 8 to 10 in Toronto.
