Zone3, TC Media form production alliance

TV with Remote

Montreal-based French- and English-language prodco Zone3 has inked an agreement with Montreal-based media co TC Media that will see Zone3 exclusively handle TV production for TC Media’s brands for the next four years.

That includes production of TV content for TC Media’s consumer and business brands, including Canadian Living, Coup de pouce, Decormag, Style at Home and Les Affaires.

Under the agreement, TC Media’s production house operations will be merged with Zone3, with current TC Media productions, including Ca commence bien! And Apollo dans l’frigo, now to be produced by Zone3.

“This agreement represents a further step in the extension of our brands on multiple platforms,” said TC Media president Ted Markle in a statement. “Zone3 is one of the leading television production companies in Canada. Working with them will give a strong boost to the development of TV content for our brands,” he added.

The strategic alliance with Montreal fiction and documentary content producer Lusio Films, which joined with the TC Media group in March, will continue with Zone3.

TC Media’s senior VP of multi-platform media development, Philippe Lapointe, negotiated the agreement. Markle said in a statement that Lapointe will depart TC Media in the next few weeks, but will stay on as a consultant over the next six months as part of a transitional period.

Zone3 produces drama, factual, reality and youth series in both French and English. The company’s current productions include Gods, Guns and Automobiles for History U.S., Les Testeurs for Vrak.TV and The Comedy Network’s Match Game.
