Canadian scribes win U.S. script competition

Two Canadian screenwriters have come out on top as winners of the U.S.-based 2013 Pilot Launch TV Script Competition, organized by Script Chix and ScreenCraft.

Vanessa King won the grand prize in the drama category and SB Edwards won the grand prize for comedy.

New York City-based King, and Edwards, a writer who has worked extensively in the art department on U.S. movie and TV shoots, as winners will fly to Los Angeles for meetings with agents, managers, and TV executives.

They will also spend a day at Universal Studios in Hollywood.

Edwards won for her half-hour comedy pilot Cannonball, which was written while she was part of the 2012 WGC Bell Media diverse screenwriters program.
